The African collection boasts an assortment of African items carefully crafted by hand in the homelands of the Eastern Cape Province by African women.Socio-economic conditions in the Eastern Cape have been deteriorating, and their is under funding of essential development functions.
The barrriers to small business involvement in this province have been identified as, inaccessibility, poverty, and negativity towards African homeland women. EASTCAPE (UK) is striving to contribute toward developing the talent and potential of homeland men and women, and create improved economic conditions within these regions.
The sale of items directly suppport families and assist charity projects, which in-turn support South African marginalised communities both in the city of Port Elizabeth and East London as well as the homeland rural areas (Transkei) of the Province of the Eastern Cape.
EAST CAPE (UK) is the official representative and network partner for participants in entrepreneurship workshops and projects presented by two South African private welfare organisations, The Restoration of Human Abilities Association (008-840 npo) and The H.O.P.E. Foundation (026-153 npo).
Due to great demand in the different regions within the Province of the Eastern Cape, EAST CAPE (UK) is further establishing additional projects and recruiting members to manage workshops, expand services and better the conditions which exist in the community.
